Curious About What’s Heating Your Space?

We at Alto Electrical have been tinkering around and came up with something pretty handy – especially if you’re curious (or a bit worried) about what’s sitting in your living room or workspace.

You know those old storage heaters?

Well, some of them might have asbestos in them, and that’s not great news for anyone.

But, don’t fret. We’ve sorted out a way to make checking this a breeze.

So, What’s This All About?

Way back when, asbestos was the go-to for insulating storage heaters. Times have changed, and now we know it’s not the safest option out there.

So, we rolled up our sleeves and put together a search tool that tells you if your storage heater is one of the old-school ones that might have asbestos.

To do this we took the HSE’s list, that was very difficult to use, and spent [a long time] turning it into actual full words and individual models, rather than ranges.

How to Use the Tool:

1. Pick Your Heater’s Brand

We’ve got a list of all the big names, and probably some you’ve never heard of.

2. Find the Model

Next up, find the model number of your heater. It’s usually on a plate somewhere on the heater.

3. Get the Lowdown

Our tool will then tell you if there’s any chance your heater’s got asbestos or if it’s in the clear.

Why Bother?

Well, knowing is half the battle, isn’t it? If there’s a chance of asbestos, it’s something you will want to be aware of when replacing the old relics.

Plus, it saves you the hassle of digging through manuals or waiting on hold with customer service.
